The Connection Between Untreated Hearing Loss and Dementia
A study by Johns Hopkins expert Frank Lin, M.D., Ph.D., and his colleagues tracked 639 adults over nearly 12 years and found significant links between hearing loss and dementia risk.
Their research shows that:
- Mild hearing loss doubles dementia risk
- Moderate hearing loss triples dementia risk
- Severe hearing loss increases the risk of developing dementia fivefold
