How To Clean Your Hearing Aid

Regular maintenance of your hearing aid is one of the most important things toward keeping its longevity and preserving its condition.

However, such delicate tasks require a lot of concentration and a steady hand, meaning, if done wrong, it can result in an expensive trip to the clinic.

To prevent this from happening, we have produced some expert tutorials showing you exactly how to clean your hearing aid and what to look out for. You can watch the video tutorial by clicking here.

How Often Should I Clean It?

The best time to clean your hearing aid is in the morning, which gives your device the chance to dry out overnight, meaning it is easier to dissect.

The first step is as simple as getting a tissue and cleaning the tip to remove any wax. This removes any dust or dirt that may be lying on the surface.

Using the brush, we supplied to you at your visit, focus firstly on cleaning the tip. This is the part that goes inside the ear canal. Don’t be afraid to brush firmly while focusing on the end to ensure you remove any stubborn built-up wax.

The next step is to clean the back of the hearing aid, where the microphone is. Work by cleaning the two small crevices between the button and the whole back of the device by giving it a vigorous scrub with your brush.

It’s important to perform this on your hearing aid daily to ensure it prevents any blockage and allows it to work at its optimum ability. By following these steps, your hearing aid can be preserved and maintained for as long as possible.

Our team of experts is more than happy to demonstrate this to you at your next visit. If you’d like to speak to a member of our team, simply click here.
