Our Top 5 Reasons for NOT Treating Your Hearing Loss

I’m sure you’ve heard it said many times that looking after your hearing health is vital, followed by all the reasons why you SHOULD treat a hearing loss.

But what about all the reasons for NOT treating a hearing loss?

Hear me out. If you’re going to be forced to listen to loved ones telling you why you should take care of your hearing, it’s only fair that you should get all your facts straight for your rebuttal and hear all the reasons against that advice.

NIDCD Epidemiology and Statistics Program staff discovered that 16% to 30% of people who could benefit from hearing loss treatment don’t, so there you go, you’re traveling on their train!

That’s why I’ve put this list together of all the reasons you shouldn’t get your hearing tested, so you can delay treatment or avoid it altogether.

1. If I Can’t Hear My Kids, They Can’t Hit Me Up For Money

Who has time for kids anyway? These years are supposed to be about the quieter life and doing things you enjoy.

There’s no way that includes listening to your kids, hearing their laughter, and having quality conversations. That’s not what you signed up for.

Especially when they keep asking for money. What better way to avoid helping them out than by not being able to hear them ask?

2. If I Hear My Boss, He’ll Just Give Me More Work To Do

Work is meant to be about doing your job the way you have done it for years without having someone micromanage you. Who has time for that?

Let her/him think you can’t hear what they say so that she/he hires someone else to do all that extra work.

3. Who Wants To Talk During A Car Ride Anyway?

Cars are for getting from A to B – you want peace and quiet on a road trip. You can’t make it any more perfect than by not being able to hear the conversation in the car clearly, leaving you free to talk to yourself.

Your family doesn’t seem to care for including you in conversations anymore anyway.

4. The Neighbors Probably Like My Taste In Music

The louder the better! It’s all about that bass, and what better way to show your appreciation for a good time than by turning it up. You know it’s good when it starts shaking your windows…and the neighbors’.

Sure, they might say it’s too loud, but that’s only because they’re not the music aficionado you are. Only loud music is good music.

5. Life Is More Interesting When You Can’t Hear Clearly

You never know what’s going to happen next. Life is an adventure ride!

Whether it’s the person at the coffee shop messing up your order when you said yes to her question, or the look on the hardware store assistant’s face when you’ve asked him to repeat himself for the third time – you just don’t know what you’re going to get, which makes everything more fun.

What’s even more fun is making your spouse explain conversations to you; nothing quite like keeping that spark from being alive, right?

Yes, I’m Kidding, But Here’s What I’m Serious About

Leaving your hearing loss untreated is no joke.

In truth, there’s no good excuse that we’ve heard in our 25+ years of treating hearing loss in Maryland that makes sense.

It’s very hard on the family to live with a loved one with a hearing loss, and they are the first to notice. What makes it doubly hard is when you don’t get help and the long-term weight of it falls on their shoulders.

Why not relieve their concern and come see us for a hearing test?

It’s quick and non-invasive, and you’ll get the results in the same visit, along with your options for treatment.

We’ve helped more than 10,000 people achieve better hearing over the past 25 years, making their lives independent and fulfilling again. We can help you too.

Book your hearing test now, or call us with any questions. We look forward to providing your hearing care.
