There are so many technological breakthroughs every day that it can be hard to keep up with all of them.
A recent development by Android is one that those who are hard of hearing absolutely need to know about because it could be of great use to them, even possibly averting catastrophe.
New Technological Breakthrough
Android has a new feature on their phones that are version 10.0 or later that enables push notifications when important sounds are detected that may require the user’s attention.
In other words, specific sounds that are audible to the phone would be picked up on, and the phone’s owner would receive a message to inform them. For instance: ‘water is running.’
Other sounds that may trigger the notification system would be things such as alarms or barking dogs.
In this way, those who are hard of hearing (or even people who are temporarily unable to hear because they are wearing earbuds, for instance) are alerted to sounds that may indicate a problem or a matter that requires immediate attention.
Imagine that your dishwasher suddenly begins to leak, but you can’t hear or see it.
The damage to your kitchen could be extensive! But with Android’s new feature, you stand a good chance of being alerted to the problem before it becomes a crisis.
Other Alerts for the Hearing Impaired
This recent development is far from the only useful one for those with hearing impairment.
Several other devices serve to alert or assist users.
Perhaps the most crucial of these devices that could literally save the lives of those who own them are fire alarms for the hearing impaired.
These alarms include innovations such as devices that shake beds, vibrate pillows, and strobe lights to awaken people regardless of the degree of their hearing loss so that they can escape injury or death.
Those with significant hearing loss may even be able to get such devices for free, so it is definitely worth looking into them.
Conveniences Never Before Imagined
All is not life or death, however, and there are also numerous devices nowadays that bring enjoyment and convenience to their users’ lives.
For example, there are hearing aids available that allow their wearers to stream music and television directly into their hearing aids to listen comfortably without disturbing those around them.
This technology can also be used for phone calls.
